Bread Pudding Recipe

What is Christmas without bread pudding?  It reminds me of my mother and it tastes so heavenly.  My number one comfort food.  The secret is to use sour dough bread.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 loafs day old sour dough bread pulled into mouth-sized pieces
  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 8 eggs beaten
  • 4 cups half & half
  • 1.5 cup coconut crystals sugar
  • 4 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Put chunks bread in large baking pan
  • Sprinkle in raisons
  • Drizzle melted butter over bread in pan
  • In a mixing bowl combine eggs, milk, sugar, spices and vanilla
  • Pour over bread and push down into bread to soak it
  • Bake in preheated oven 45 minutes or until it browns slightly
