Be The Change You Want To See In The World
By Dr. Renae Norton

On Friday of last week I voted!  It was a snap. Huge parking lot, but plenty of parking spaces in spite of a an enormous crowd. Once I was inside the building… And I was able to park right in front of the door…  there was only one person in line in front of me. That’s because there were about 30 lines. There must’ve been 100 workers and probably 500 to 600 people actually voting and still no long waits.  How great is that?

Good job Cincinnati board of elections. Thank you for early voting!

In the last month I renewed my license to practice, my driver’s license, along with my license plates, got in to see the dentist, had a thermogram (instead of a mammogram) and got tested for Covid-19. (Negative)

I did all of these things while recovering from knee replacement surgery and maintaining my private practice at warp speed. Thank you to my personal assistance Alli and Tina. I couldn’t do any of this without you.

This is a birthday month and although a woman never tells her age, I’m getting up there :-)

In general, I feel like a good citizen a healthy senior and a progressive practitioner. I am also a devoted grandmother, mother and mother-in-law.  I am so grateful for the blessings I have. But I am also so aware of what’s happening in our country and the devastation that it is wreaking upon people who were depending on their jobs and have lost them and people who have contracted the virus through no fault of their own or who have lost a loved one.

These are hard times and it is really important that we do whatever we can do to support those who are struggling. Even the smallest things can help. Let people know when you have things you are willing to give away to people in need. Donate your money if and when it makes sense for a cause that matters to you. Volunteer your services. Reach out to people you know are alone and isolated. Just letting them know that you’re thinking about them could change the way they feel about their day. Perhaps most importantly, reach out when you need help. Don’t be afraid to ask for it.
